I spent some time at this property to experience what it was like. I am very familiar with the Karoo and its my go-to holiday destination and I was keen to see what the difference was. Following my visit, all I can say is that you need to do the same. Its a special place.
To be honest, descriptive words and the photos will never do justice to capture the essence of SPWE (Swartberg Private Wildlife Estate). Fish Eagle Lodge is only one of a few on this magnificent conservancy estate and if space is your need and nature your want, this would be it. I would say its exclusive, inspiring and totally out there. A little of heaven on earth. The property, Fish Eagle, was built and owned by the same family and there is a great feel in the property - some good times were spent there. One can sense it.
On the practical side, the house is spacious, flows beautifully and has all you need. If you are very busy and it becomes your holdiay getaway, the management company runs a tight ship and most of the practicalities are managed quite efficiently. You basically just need to arrive at the property. They will open and prepare the house, the pool will be clean and inviting, house will be tidied, lights on etc etc... where else in SA would we find this peace of mind and absolute spoil?? If its your holiday house, you start to breathe out when you drive up the gravelled driveway. Its that kind of wonderful.
The five bedrooms are all en suite and you can pick your view - no one will be compromised since the Swartberge surround you and nurture your tired eyes. The kitchen is phenomenal as is the living space centered around it. You can bring the whole family and since they are just about off the grid, you wont need to worry about all that other "stuff". Let the kids go fishing, you go for sundowners up the koppie and let gramps chill in front of the braai. A very special, all together wonderful holiday home.
There is much more to tell you but sometimes the less said, the more is understood.
